Dmitry Khamzin

Dmitry Khamzin is a choreographer, filmmaker, photographer and creative director with more than 20 years of professional experience in dance. He began his career at the Stanislavsky & Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre in Moscow, where he became a Leading Soloist, before continuing his career as a Soloist with Aalto Ballet Essen and Zurich Ballet.

His stage career includes two Golden Mask nominations for Best Male Actor: for the role of Treplev in John Neumeier’s The Seagull, and for Jiří Kylián’s Petite Mort & Six Dances. His experience as a performer has shaped his approach to choreography and filmmaking, with a particular interest in the relationship between movement, camera and storytelling.

Dmitry has more than nine years of teaching experience, working with dancers across different ages and levels. He has also choreographed and taught for Skate Academy Switzerland, exploring the relationship between dance, movement and other forms of physical performance.

Alongside dance, Dmitry has developed an extensive practice in photography and filmmaking, with more than eight years of professional experience. His work brings together choreography, visual storytelling and cinematic production, creating new ways for dance to exist and reach an audience.
