Anna Khamzina

Anya Khamzina brings more than two decades of professional dance experience to her work as an Artistic Adviser, teacher and creative. She began her career at the Stanislavsky & Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre in Moscow, later becoming a Soloist with Aalto Ballet Essen and a Principal Dancer with Zurich Ballet.

Her career has taken her across major stages and into collaborations with some of the most renowned choreographers of our time, including David Dawson, Pierre Lacotte, William Forsythe and John Neumeier, among many others. In 2012, she received the Golden Mask Award for Best Female Actor for her performance as The Little Mermaid in John Neumeier’s The Little Mermaid.

Alongside her performing career, Anya has more than eight years of teaching experience and works with dancers at different stages of their development. She is also a mother of two and has developed a strong interest in healthy living, wellbeing and sustainable approaches to a dancer’s life and career. Her experience as a performer, teacher, mother and creative adviser gives her a broad perspective on both the demands and possibilities of life in dance.
